The social support network is considered a health protective factor involving physical, mental and psychological aspects as it provides better quality of life, promotes better adaptation to adverse conditions, increases s resilience, and a more effective coping with negative life events that can lead to illness. Our aim is to study the association between physical illness, common mental disorders and social support network of patients seen in primary care units in the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo in a cross-sectional study with 1466 patients between 18 and 65 years. To assess the support network we used the Social Network Index (SNI) through the following categories: isolation and integration while the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale was used for detection of common mental disorders. To assess the diagnosis of physical illness the doctor / nurse completed a questionnaire and It was found that the pattern of social support was different depending on the presence of physical illness or mental disorders. There was an inverse association between diabetes and isolation(OR 0,64 IC 0,42-0,97) ; integration and anxiety (OR 0.61 CI 0.48-0.77 ) integration and depression (OR 0.51 CI 0.38-0.68). and positive associations isolation with anxiety (OR 1.32 CI 1.06 -166 ) and isolation and isolation and depression (OR 1.39 CI 1.08 to 1.77 ) .

Abstract(resumo):
A rede de apoio é considerada um agente protetor da saúde em seus aspectos físico, mental e psicológico, proporcionando melhor qualidade de vida, favorecendo adaptação à condições adversas, promovendo resiliência e a mobilização de recursos no enfrentamento de eventos de vida negativos que podem levar ao adoecimento. O nosso objetivo foi estudar a relação entre doenças físicas, transtorno mental comum e a rede de apoio social dos pacientes atendidos na Atenção Primária a Saúde no Rio de Janeiro e São Paulo em um estudo de corte transversal com 1466 pacientes entre 18 e 65 anos. Para aferir o tipo de rede de apoio foi utilizado o Índice de Rede Social por meio das categorias: isolamento e integração. Para aferir o diagnóstico de doença física foi utilizado o questionário pelo médico/enfermeiro e para detecção dos transtornos mentais foi utilizado o Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale. Verificou-se que o padrão da rede de apoio foi diferente entre as doenças físicas e os transtornos mentais. Foram detectadas associações negativas entre diabetes e isolamento(OR 0,64 IC 0,42-0,97); integração e ansiedade(OR 0,61 IC 0,48-0,77) integração e depressão(OR 0,51 IC 0,38-0,68) e associações positivas do isolamento com ansiedade (OR 1,32 IC 1,06-166) e isolamento e depressão (OR 1,39 IC 1,08-1,77).
