Abstract:

The aim of the study was to identify sociodemographic profiles of women with breast cancer in Belo Horizonte and to verify the association with interval between diagnosis and treatment. A cross-sectional study was carried out with datathe hospital records of 715 women undergoing treatment2010 to 2013. The sociodemographic profiles were drawnthe variables age, race/color of the skin, education and cost of treatment using the Two-Step cluster method . The independent association between profiles and diagnostic/treatment interval was estimated by multinomial logistic regression. Five profiles were identified: A (race/color white, >15 years of study, private health system); B (race/color white, 11 years of study, Brazilian public health system/SUS); C and D (race/color brown, 11 years and < 8 years of study respectively, SUS); E (race/color black, < 8 years of study, SUS). The B, C, D and E profiles were associated with longer diagnostic / treatment intervals regardless of the stage of the cancer at diagnosis being that E presented 37 times greater chance of > 91 days (OR:37.26, 95% CI:11,91-116,56). Even after overcoming the barriers to access to the oncology unit, women with social vulnerability profiles presented longer waiting times for the treatment.
