Abstract:

The pandemic highlighted new and old health risks that require health actions and social support. This article analyzed knowledge of UBS’s health professionals of the society and health services health promotion initiatives and social support to vulnerable groups, jointly or separately. It started with a theoretical review of the concept and its application and the analysis of empirical datathe multidimensional study “Challenges to PHC in coping with Covid-19”, cross-sectionally designed, with a representative sample of Brazilian UBS, at national and regional levels. A score was generateded and aggregated variables and proportions of ed initiatives and CI (95%) were estimated for Brazil and its regions. Population and UBS’s initiatives proved to be heterogeneous among regions, being significantly more frequent in the NE region and in urban/non-urban municipalities and with lower HDI. Challenges, gaps and the need for further investigations still remain; increasing the magnitude and scope of intra/intersectoral actions; strengthening ties between different actors and reversing the effects of the pandemic that deepened health inequalities and inequities.
