Abstract:

This study aimed to identify the relationship between sociodemographic variables and environment domain of Quality of Life (QOL) of adolescents. The sample was composed of 608 adolescents aged 14 to 20 years, the municipality of Lapa, PR, South Brazil. For the assessment of QOL and socioeconomic condition were used, respectively, the questionnaire WHOQOL-Bref and ABEP. For analysis of the data used to the descriptive statistics and chi-square tests, exact Fisher and logistic regression binary, considering p<0.05. The average value of QOL overall and environment domain of adolescents was 67.3% and 55.6% respectively. Girls were 1.9 times more likely to present poor environment domain than boys, and less wealthy individuals (class B and C+D+E) showed, respectively, 5.7 and 7.4 times more risk to have poor environment domain when compared with adolescents of socioeconomic class A. It can be inferred that the environment domain presented themselves as vulnerable point of QOL of adolescents investigated. The main groups at risk to the have poor environment domain of the QOL were composed of female adolescents and belonging to the less advantaged socioeconomic classes.
