Abstract:

Introduction: Tuberculosis is an infectious disease and can present resistance to treatment, known as drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB). Objective: To analyze the spatial-temporal pattern and identify socioeconomic indicators related to drug-resistant tuberculosis cases in Brazil from 2007 to 2020. Method: Ecological study, which analyzed DR-TB cases registered in SINAN. The temporal analysis was performed by Joinpoint. In the spatial analysis, spatial autocorrelation, Scan sweep and the Gets Ord Gi* method were used. Regression models were used to identify factors associated with the disease considering p<0.05. Results: The temporal analysis performed by the Joinpoint method detected an increasing trend from 2007 to 2017 of 12.08% (95% CI: 8.8–15.5; p<0.001) in Brazil. According to spatial analyses, the municipalities of Roraima and Rondônia, Bahia and Paraná had the highest incidence of DR-TB. The variables that showed a positive association with DR-TB were Retreatment Rate (β=0.004; p=0.066), HDI-M (β=1.00; p<0.001) and Population in households with density > 2 (β=0.004; p=0.005). Conclusion: Despite the decrease in cases in 2020, it is important to evaluate measures and strategies aimed at surveillance and health promotion.
