Abstract:

The Brazilian Amazon is not a homogeneous place, in it there are several forms of people daily lives driven by the interaction with natural environment. Highlighting some elements of Boaventura de Souza Santos\' social theory, this paper discusses how the problem of linear timeline and the dominant scale in hegemonic thinking has served to make the Amazonian territories invisible for the public health planning. It also points out that build a post-abyssal SUS thinking inevitably requires the economic replacement role of the region in an inclusive social development framework with the Amazon and not regardless of it. Finally, the possibility that the local SUS should be based on a tripod, not exclusively urban-centered, considering its territorial extension, population density and flows of access to health services take place.
