Abstract:
The present study characterizes the Medicine and Nursing students\' learningthe ion in the professional practice during the initial series of the courses. This is documentary research with a qualitative approach, carried out by the analysis of 21 portfolios written by Medicine and Nursing’s freshmen and sophomores along the years of 2015 and 2016. These students area Higher Education Institution of the interior of São Paulo, which uses the active learning methods and s the students in the scenarios of Basic Attention. The data were interpreted through content analysis thematic modality.This ion makes it possible for them to apprehend the guiding principles of the Unified Health System; to understand the factors that prevail in the health-disease process in an expanded way with the care centered on the health needs of the family and community; to develop skills to work in a humanized group and interdisciplinary team, valuing empathy. It was found that students are learning about the current Health System in Brazil and practicing their possibilities of operation, in addition to the values necessary to develop the teamwork required for person-centered care.
