Abstract:
Objective: to evaluate the consumption of ultraprocessed products and associated factors in prepubertal children. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 378 8- and 9-year-old children enrolled in public and private schools in Viçosa-MG. Food consumption was assessed by three 24-hour reminders. Dietary data were tabulated in Diet Pro® 5i software to quantify energy consumption. Two-Step Cluster technique was used to analyze food consumption groups using Stata software version 13.0. Foods were grouped and classified as \"healthy\" and \"unhealthy\" markers. The association between the sociodemographic variables and the groups formed was verified by means of the Poisson Regression.
Results: The formation of two food groups was obtained: \"healthy\" and \"unhealthy\". The caloric intake of ultraprocessed was lower in the \"healthy\" group (20.5%) than in the \"unhealthy\" group (24.1%; P = 0.043). In the multivariate model, private school children (PR = 1.25, P
