Abstract:

Tuberculosis defined by some as the ‘neglected calamity‘ is still an important public health problem. To try to improve results in its confrontation actions have been decentralized to the Primary Health Care (PHC) which has been demanding a new direction in the Family Health Strategy (FHS). This research aimed to analyze the evolution of the Family Health Strategy (FHS) in the municipality of Curitiba in the years 2000 to 2009 and its impact on tuberculosis cases. The methodology used to study the ecological type aggregate territorial longitudinal series. Data collection was conducted from October 2010 to July 2011. The main results there was a significant increase of 127.63% in the number of Family Health Teams, with an increase of 76.28% of people served. There was also a concern about the ongoing training of these teams, which reflected positively in increasing the number of diagnostic tests performed, reducing the number of new cases, reducing the proportion of noncompliance and mortality rate related to tuberculosis. Through our research we can see a correction in the management of vector control of tuberculosis in the city of Curitiba.
