Abstract According to human health impacts of oil industry, this research intends to present a methodological proposal to analyze these aspects in the environmental impact assessment studies, starting from the established legal parameters and a validated matrix of hydroelectric section. The lack of health aspects in the environmental impact assessment was verified in most of 21 analyzed oil production enterprises, licensed in the period of January 1, 2004 to October 30, 2009. The health matrix reveals an appropriate methodological approach to analyze these aspects in the environmental licensing process, guiding decisions and interventions for the social and environmental management.Key words Health impact assessment, Environmental management, Environmental licensing, Oil and gas industry.
