Abstract:

Abstract: The cardiovascular diseases are nowadays the most common morbimortality causes worldwide. In the context of disease prevention, actions creating health favorable environments and promoting healthy choices turned out to be fundamental. Intervention programs with a communitarian basis have been introduced in different countries since the beginning of the 1970’s, aiming to modify cardiovascular risk factors and decrease the morbidity and mortality by cardiovascular diseases. In such experiences, the importance of the public politics and cardiovascular risk vigilance systems are to be highlighted, leading to a more accurate assessment of the problem’s magnitude can be assessed and to the development of more cost-effective actions. The aim of this study was to describe many countries’ community-geared experiences in the fight against cardiovascular diseases through health promotion and risk factors primary prevention, as well as to identify in Brazil the non-transferable chronic diseases risk factor vigilance actions, encouraging a reflection on the challenges of the Family Health Program on the cope with the cardiovascular diseases.
