Abstract:

This article presents a review about labeling of products having in their composition Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO), also called transgenic. Discusses the conventions, laws and regulations relating to such products on the market ready, the adequacy of these existing standards and accepted by society. There is also about the importance of the precautionary principle in assessing the application of new technologies or technologies with no known or where relevant scientific knowledge about their potential risks to the environment, human health and society.
