Abstract:

Introduction: Hearing loss is prevalent disease and justifies the need for regulation of the Laws and Ordinances of their executions through the Hearing Health Care. Given the public policy, maternity that were ed in the network deployment process began service newborn hearing screening (NHS), as it was in the city of Rio de Janeiro. For TAN uses otoacoustic emissions being a rapid, high reliability, easy to perform, with objective results. Objectives: To know the best assistance and care for the hearing health of newborns in maternity wards of the Municipal Health Methods: observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, descriptive analysis with frequency distribution, and was the object of the SMS-RJ Maternity who performed TAN. Results: We identified three maternity hospitals with TAN (A, B and C). In hospitals that performed TAN, 1,865 live NB were recorded. Of these, the total realized that TAN was 40.5%. In hospitals A and B, 54.6% underwent TAN and of these, 97.3% passed TAN and only 1.8% failed and need to be routed to the service of high complexity. Conclusion: The TAN is the beginning of the Program for Health Care Hearing RN. It is important that the NHS work integrated services network through the Program for Health Care Hearing.
