The present article presents conclusions of a research developed in ENSP/Fiocruz, as part of the master's degree course. The research had inside as one of the objectives to investigate the women residents' of the Slum of Rocinha/RJ alimentary practices of the perspective socioantropológica. The results revealed that the feeding of the group was monotonous, with few variations of the menu composed basically by rice, bean, sugars and fats. We still observed the rejection to the industrialized products and canned. This pattern of alimentary consumption seems if it approximates of the Brazilian alimentary culture revealing the preservation of the national identity starting from the feeding. In that way, there is need to overcome presupposed around the relationship between alimentary consumption and obesity, especially in what he/she tells respect the predominant idea of changes in the diet with the incorporation of a diet "modern" or "western" that permeates great part of the studies in the field of the nutrition in Brazil. In this direction, we signaled the need to rescue the approach multidimensional for the studies about feeding and nutrition in the country. Such proposal implicates to overcome restricted conceptual pictures and the construction of new investigation calendars.

O presente artigo apresenta conclusões de uma pesquisa desenvolvida na ENSP/Fiocruz, como parte do curso de mestrado. A pesquisa teve como um dos objetivos investigar as práticas alimentares de mulheres moradoras da Favela da Rocinha/RJ dentro da perspectiva socioantropológica. Os resultados revelaram que a alimentação do grupo era monótona, com poucas variações do cardápio composta basicamente por arroz, feijão, açúcares e gorduras. Observamos ainda a rejeição aos produtos industrializados e enlatados. Este padrão de consumo alimentar parece se aproximar da cultura alimentar brasileira revelando a preservação da identidade nacional a partir da alimentação. Dessa forma, há necessidade de superar pressupostos em torno da relação entre consumo alimentar e obesidade, especialmente no que diz respeito a idéia predominante de mudanças na dieta com a incorporação de uma dieta “moderna” ou “ocidental” que permeia grande parte dos estudos no campo da nutrição no Brasil. Nesta direção, sinalizamos a necessidade de resgatar a abordagem multidimensional para os estudos sobre alimentação e nutrição no país. Tal proposta implica superar quadros conceituais restritos e a construção de novas agendas de investigação.
