Abstract:

This study aimed to characterize the pharmaceutical services in the Brazilian Unified Health Systemthe perspective of health care networks in health regions included in the QualiSUS-Network Project. A cross-sectional design was applied, with data collectedDecember 2013 to July 2015 in all public health facilities who performed delivery / drug storage (n = 4,938) of 465 municipalities and the Federal District in 43 health regions. The results show the existence of at least one management service to support health network in addition to the storage of medicines in all regions (> 90%). The offer of at least one care service at the point of care by pharmacists was hetorogeneous among Regions, occurring in greater proportion in the Southeast (74.3%) and lower in the Northeast (43.3%). The results underscore the need for effective structuring of pharmaceutical care in RAS overcoming a narrow view of its activities, which values almost exclusively the logistical support component of the network rather than the clinic. It is equaly important to widen and improve the population‘s access to medicines as well as toqualify the health care offered to users.
