Abstract:

This study aims to analyze the protective and destructive critical processes of 34 female laborers in artisanal fishing in Cabo de Santo de Agostinho and Ipojuca in Pernambuco state.February/21 to August/22. The stages of the work process were systematized by the work flowchart and Breilh\'s Critical Processes Matrix (2003) was used to organize data. The destructive processes identified, in the General domain were: injustice and socio-environmental vulnerability as the economic development model, the Suape Industrial Port Complex, the crime-disaster oil spill occurred in 2019, the Covid-19 pandemic, and difficulty in accessing public policies; in particular: overloads and extension of working hours, use of rudimentary equipment and tools and unequal relations of gender, class and race; in the singular: physical and mental illnesses and deaths. Protective processes, in the general domain: sustainable development objectives, public health and social assistance policies; in particular: group work and processing, consumption for subsistence; in the singular: fishing as a therapeutic, pleasurable and sharing process. The study highlighted the central problems of water women and the need to establish public policies aimed at their care.
