Abstract:

Aedesaegypti is an important disease agent nowadays, being responsible for virus such as Zika, Chikungunya and the Dengue four serotypes. On the occasion of this mosquito relevance to the current social body, investigations into Ecohealth become urgent, since this approach aims to articulate different theoretical fields to understand the historical connections between nature, society and health. Based on an ethnographic premise, this study considered the inequality and injustice conditions that make women\'s health vulnerable to dengue, analyzing their practices and perceptions about the potential breeding grounds in the public space. In order to compose the study, the semi-structured interview and the participant observation were used, together with the field diary. The research included the participation of ten women living in a peripheral neighborhood of Fortaleza city, Ceará, Brazil,January to August 2014. From the Content Analysis the category \"Social inequity, context and practices in the public space\" emerged. From the narratives, it was found that life unstable conditions and evident social inequity may influence in a context permeated by garbage, with great potential for the dengue mosquito proliferation.
