Abstract:

The work of Community Health Agents (CHA) was analyzed in the light of the theory of Communities of Practice (CdC). A qualitative cross-sectional study, carried out in four municipalities in Ceará. Six focus groups and six interviews were carried out with a total of 45 CHA, respecting ethical aspects. The data corpus was analyzed using the content analysis technique. The results show that the participation of CHA in the FHS is marked by experience in the community, with the main focus being the monitoring of priority groups. The practices put them in front of the diverse social and family complexities, generating reflections and the construction of new meanings for themselves and for their work process. The ACS CdP engages and shares challenges and unique learningwork, characterized by close contact and relationships with the families of the territory, which reveal needs little perceived by other FHS professionals. As for the processes of reification, the meaning of being CHAs as one who listens and welcomes, in addition to being one who perceives the needs of families invisible to services, is evident. The CHA better exercises their role as articulator of the ESF in the territories, the greater the spaces for dialogue between them, the other team members and the management.
