Abstract:

The article aims to contribute to the identification of conditions and trends in access and use of primary health care (PHC) services by elderly Brazilians in the years 2008, 2013 and 2019. For this purpose, a cross-sectional study in panels was carried out with a descriptive analysis of the percentages and confidence intervals of the variables listed, in which data on the elderly population investigated in the Health Supplement of the National Household Sample Survey (PNAD) of the year 2008 and of the National Health Survey (PNS) 2013 and 2019 were retrieved. It was identified that, although PHC was the main service sought after the need for assistance, there was a tendency of reduction for this demand in all Brazilian regions, among the elderly women, in the age group of 60-69 years and in the white race / color population. There was a 15,2% increase in the number of households registered with the USF; 4.5% in the search for a place, service or health professional; and 31,4% in the population served. The main factors of non-attendance were not being able to get a vacancy / password and not having a doctor attending. Among those investigated, there was a growth trend among those diagnosed with Hypertension, Diabetes mellitus and multimorbidities.
