Abstract:

It was evaluated the consumption of dietary fiber in Brazil and its relation with ultraprocessed foods. The analysis used food consumption data, with a 24-hour food record of residents aged ≥10 years (n = 34.003)the Family Budgets Survey 2008-09. The foods were divided into groups: in natura or minimally processed, processed culinary ingredients, processed and ultraprocessed. We estimated the contribution of each food group and ed subgroups to the total fiber intake and the relation between quintiles of ultraprocessed foods (evaluated by the % of total energy intake) and average dietary fiber content (g/1.000kcal), and the prevalence of inadequate fiber consumption (
