Abstract:

Currently, heated debates on certain models of treatment for drug users occur in the fields of politics, media and academy. However, before these debates, it is necessary to understand how the services are organized to fulfill the demand for better provision of treatment. The network care on drugs is presented in this context as an important mechanism for users, but also its integration appears as a challenge. From this, the present study aimed to perform a narrative review of the scientific literature on the network care on drugs, posing some challenges and opportunities in its consolidation. The results were: a) a lack of specific studies on the network care on drugs b) insufficient and disintegrated coverage against the demand for treatment c) the need to rethink the role of the Psychosocial Care Centers for Alcohol and other Drugs, seeking its strengthening, expansion, structural improvement and readjustment of its practices d) lack of critical analysis about the construction process of care models on drugs in public services, and e) the State‘s responsibility to provide better alternatives to the scenario found, advancing on strengthening intersectoral actions, articulation of the care and improvement of work conditions.
