Abstract:

Introduction: empirical information provided by health professionals who work in the emergency sector reported increase in the number of civil construction workers who have acute painful conditions, mostly associated with the presence of urinary tract calculi. Objective: To evaluate the prevalence of urinary lithiasis in civil construction employees, seeking to identify indicators for health and people management. Methods: Observational study conducted with a directed questionnaire. Results: Of the 94 participants, 18 (19%) were lithiasic, mainly associated with overweight and reduced water intake. Conclusion: The prevalence was found to be twice that of the general population. Thus, it shows important to prevent the risks of that condition, thus avoiding the discomfort of the worker, reducing the costs of SUS with treatment, and also business costs with absenteeism, generating improved productivity, benefiting the employee and the performance creating perspective improving the quality of life.
