The application of Telemedicine in Amazon forest is able to reduce the barriers faced by riverside population situated in isolated geographical areas.The aim of the present experience is to provide capacity building on education and assistance using telemedicine as a technology for the promotion and prevention in health care as well as the professional capacity building and qualification of the riverside population living in the margins of Madeira's river. This project was held in nine communities around Porto Velho (RO). The system allowed simultaneous audio and video exchange providing the riverside communities a unique access to information, medical assistance, and lectures on prevention in basic health and the contact with an unknown reality. This is an efficient alternative for a better distribution of health services to excluded people due to geographic isolation.Telemedicine assists in the information diffusion, providing capacity building and qualification to the population in general. In this pioneer experience, we concluded that Telemedicine plays an essential role for the complementation and success of the health system in isolated regions and can bring significant information and knowledge to improve health education in each individual and in the community.Key words: Telemedicine, Amazon Rainforest, Public Health, Multisector Attendance.
