ABSTRACTThe global concern in relation to child mortality has gained visibility with the release in 2000 of the Millennium Development Goals, in which the reduction of child mortality is highlighted with the goal number four, which proposes to reduce by two thirds the mortality rate of children under five years , from 1990 to 2015. Reduce child mortality has been a priority of social health policies of the Brazilian government. The identification of risk factors associated with infant mortality can assist in planning for restructuring and improving care for pregnant women and newborns in order to reduce child mortality. In this perspective, the present study aims to analyze the use of the method of linkage to identify risk factors associated with infant mortality . We used the Integrative Literature Review. We analyzed eight full articles published between 2008 and 2013, using the keywords: infant mortality, risk factors and information systems . The use of linkage technique proved to be very useful, allowing for proper investigation of the factors most strongly related to mortality, showing its relevance to the study of public health problems.
