Abstract:

The objective was to analyze the association between recognition of a usual source of Primary Health Care (PHC) care and access to PHC services among Brazilian adolescents. Cross-sectional study, based on the National School Health Survey carried out with 68,968 Brazilian adolescents, through cluster sampling. Descriptive analyzes were carried out using Pearson\'s χ2 and the prevalence ratio (PR) using logistic regression models between access to PHC services and recognition of FUC APS. Of the adolescents who sought PHC services, 74.6% reported access, the majority being female (79.3%). In the multivariate analysis, a positive association was observed (RP: 1.25; 95% CI: 1.24 – 1.26), and when stratified by sex, positive associations were observed for both sexes, (RP: 1.30; 95%CI: 1.28 – 1.31) male and (PR: 1.21; 95%CI: 1.20 – 1.23) female. It appears that the majority of Brazilian adolescents who have PHC as their FUC were able to access PHC services, despite the lack of access being more frequent among the most economically vulnerable and due to risky behaviors, indicating potentially avoidable inequities. through a more effective and longitudinal PHC.
