Abstract:

This article aims to establish a narrative about some aspects of the academic and militant trajectory of the teacher and popular educator Victor Valla, highlighting a problem he has pointed out in several texts and debates about the lack of understanding of some researchers and technicians (social workers, educators, doctors, nurses, etc.) about the popular classes and their speeches. Valla emphasized the existence of knowledge production, beyond the traditional circuit of universities and research centers, especially among the popular groups, which for him would be embedded in their practices. In this sense, he advocated a new theoretical and methodological position for social, cultural and health education projects with the popular groups, which would be totally coherent and compatible with the premises of a democratic and equitable health system compatible by those involved with the area of health.
