The present study purposed to describe the profile of the patients that have complaints and/or vocal alterations, who were attended from July 2003 to December 2006 at the speech therapy outpatient department of “Hospital das Clínicas da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais”, according to the age, sex, profession, schooling, origin, treatment performed and factors that interferes in the medical care evolution. This study was a retrospective study based on the analysis of the records data of the individuals according to a protocol which was specifically prepared. The results showed that the individuals included in this study were predominantly young women, referred by a specialist doctor, coming from Belo Horizonte, that do not work and also have elementary school incomplete. The attendance of those patients was done individually, and almost half of them were discharged from the speech therapist. The elderly patients, who have a functional or psychogenic dysphonia and with a neutral or breath type of voice showed a correlation with the discharge from the speech therapist. The younger individuals who have an organofunctional dysphonia had a statistical correlation with their outlying. And the individuals that have envolved to abandonment did not showed correlation with the crossed variables.KEY-WORDS: Voice, records, health services evaluation, public health.
