Abstract:

The HIV disease currently presents as a chronic and manageable. So, it is pertinent to consider the implications of individual trajectories of the disease in everyday life of its bearers. These stories are set in the paths traveled by users seeking answers to their illness and care. This qualitative study aimed to analyze the therapeutic itinerary of people living with HIV / AIDS. The study subjects were men and women with HIV, assisted in a Specialized Health Care unit and University Hospital, both located in a public municipality of Minas Gerais state, Brazil. The participants were approached through interviews and data were analyzed through the thematic analysis technique. From the individual paths that designed these narratives, emerged the itineraries of those people living with HIV. These covered topics such as pilgrimages and how to enter the care system, the implications of cost and access, management of treatment and the importance of attachment relationships. The questions that guided the organization of work allowed inferring about the weaknesses and strengths in the health care system to the HIV bearer, first of all considering the personal experience of these individuals.
