Abstract:

The objective of this study was to analyze the lack of access to health services in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic by women, intersecting skin color, income, and schooling. This is a population-based cross-sectional study with 1,107 women aged 18 years or older living in Vitória/ES. The study had as its dependent variable the lack of access to medical consultations and as independent variables skin color, income, education, age, health insurance and Jeopardy index. The bivariate analyses were performed using the chi-square test and the adjusted analyses were performed using Poisson regression with robust variance, adopting a significance level of 5%. The prevalence of lack of access was 6.6% (95%CI 4.9 – 8.7), being higher among adult women (9.8%; CI 6.7-14.3), non-white (PR 8.1%; 95%CI 5.8-11.3), lowest income (PR 10.6%; CI 6.7-16.2), without health insurance (PR 6.6; 95%CI 2.6-17.1). The analysis according to the Jeopardy index showed that non-white women, with lower income and worse education had an 11 times higher prevalence of lack of access when compared to the most privileged. The stratified analysis showed that in the group of non-white women, those with lower income and had a higher prevalence of lack of access (12.5%; 95%CI 7.8-19.5).
