Resumo:

O estudo teve como objetivo verificar quais as atividades realizadas como lazer pelos idosos homens de Santa Maria, pois há uma baixa participação dos homens nos grupos de terceira idade da cidade. A partir disso, desenvolveu-se uma pesquisa qualitativa do tipo etnográfica, seguindo um roteiro de observações que abrange estrutura dos espaços, atividades realizadas, objetos à disposição dos indivíduos, horários de funcionamento e comportamentos, por meio de visitas aos locais que os idosos freqüentam. Assim foi visto que várias ações eram praticadas como o jogo de bocha, o jogo de sinuca e cartas, outra situação evidente foi a relação familiar dos indivíduos com os lugares e, além da baixa presença de mulheres. Existe a preocupação quanto à inclusão das mulheres no convívio diário, pois muitos homens deixam de freqüentar os lugares por falta de ações que incluam as esposas, para tal são organizados jantares e bailes. Observaram-se com este estudo alguns possíveis motivos para a baixa participação dos homens nos grupos: práticas que não são de interesse deles; consideram as aulas pouco estimulantes, pois são tidas como repetitivas; e, o pensamento de que enquanto puderem fazer as atividades que gostam, tendo bom desempenho, não vêem necessidade de realizar exercícios físicos.

Abstract:

The study it had as objective to verify which the carried through activities as leisure for the aged men of Santa Maria, a time was evidenced that it has a low participation of the men in the groups of third age in the city. From this, a qualitative research of the ethnographic type was developed, following an daily script of comments that encloses carried through structure of the spaces, activities, objects available for the individuals, schedules of functioning and behaviors, by means of visits to the places that the aged ones frequent. Thus it was since some actions were practised as the game of bocha, the game of sinuca and letters, another evident situation was the familiar relation of the individuals with the places and the low presence of women. The concern how much to the inclusion of the women in the daily conviviality exists, therefore many men leave to frequent the places due to actions that include the wives, such are developed suppers and balls. Some reasons for low the participation of the men in the groups had been observed with this study: practical that they are not of interest of them; consider the lessons few stimulants, therefore they are had repetitive; and, thought of that while they will be able to do the activities that like, having good performance, do not see necessity to practice physical exercises.
