OBJETIVO: Caracterizar o consumo alimentar de lactentes paulistas no segundo semestre de vida. MÉTODOS: Estudo transversal, com amostra representativa de 14327 lactentes de seis a doze meses, residentes de 76 municípios do estado de São Paulo, SP, em 2008. Foi realizada a caracterização da amostra de lactentes, de mães e de cada município estudado. Em relação ao consumo alimentar, além da avaliação sobre alimentos e preparações consumidos, foram calculados indicadores com base nas recomendações da Organização Mundial da Saúde, Ministério da Saúde e estudos sobre práticas de alimentação infantil.
