Abstract:
The Hatha-Yoga provides many benefits to health of women with breast cancer. Objectives: To evaluate the effects of intervention Hatha-Yoga in the levels of stress and anxiety of women with mastectomies. Method: This is a randomized controlled sample of 45 volunteers (19 control and 26 experimental) Ambulatory Ilza Bianco‘s Hospital St. Rita, ES / Brazil in the period from March to November 2010. The 2 groups were initially evaluated by the Trait-Anxiety (A-Trait) and State (B-State) Inventory (IDATE) and the List of Signs and Symptoms of Stress (LSS/VAS). The experimental group took part in 6 interventions stimulating home practice, having been re-examined after that period, whereas control group underwent re-evaluation after the same period, while the control group was re-evaluated in time proportional. For statistical treatment, Statistical Pack for Social Sciences (SPSS) -17.0 version was used. Results: The data were statistically significant and showed that the intervention Hatha-Yoga decreased stress and anxiety in the experimental group. Conclusion: Hatha-Yoga is an efficacious tool for mastectomized women dealing with the disease, as it promotes self-knowledge, this way enhancing self-esteem and emotional control.
