0094/2024 - Representações sociais dos adolescentes sobre o corpo: revisão sistemática de estudos qualitativos Social representations of the body by adolescents: qualitative systematic review
Este artigo tem como objetivo identificar as representações sociais dos adolescentes acerca do corpo e como a temática dos corpos negros tem sido discutida. Trata-se de uma revisão sistemática cujas buscas ocorreram em agosto de 2023 nas bases de dados PubMed/MEDLINE, SciELO, Scopus, Web of Science, PsycInfo, PePSIC, BVS e nos portais BDTD e OATD. Os dez estudos incluídos apontaram um corpo que tem como constituinte central a aparência corporal, a valorização pelos adolescentes de padrões estéticos hegemônicos, a influência do corpo na aceitação entre os pares e a busca pelo corpo desejado. Assim como, foi verificado o incipiente debate acerca da questão racial em torno das representações sobre o corpo. Dois estudos aprofundam a discussão sobre essa questão, expondo a exaltação da miscigenação e o sexismo presentes nos estereótipos em torno do corpo de mulheres negras. Assim, evidencia-se que o corpo é concebido pelos jovens como um importante mediador de comportamentos, relações sociais e instrumento de expressão de identidades. Diante destas expectativas sociais, os adolescentes almejam o corpo branco, magro, curvilíneo e torneado. Bem como, há uma lacuna sobre características e valores associados ao corpo negro.
The scope of this article is to identify adolescents\' social representations of the body and how the issue of black bodies has been discussed. This is a systematic review whose searches took place in August 2023 in PubMed/MEDLINE, SciELO, Scopus, Web of Science, PsycInfo, PePSIC, BVS, and in the BDTD and OATD portals. The ten studies included pointed to a body whose central constituent is body appearance, the adolescents’ appreciation of hegemonic aesthetic standards, the influence of the body on acceptance among peers, and the search for the desired body. As well as the incipient debate about the racial issue around the representations of the body was verified. Two studies deepen the discussion on this issue, exposing the exaltation of miscegenation and sexism present in stereotypes around the body of black women. Thus, it is clear that the body is conceived by young people as an important mediator of behavior, social relations and an instrument for expressing identities Given these social expectations, teenagers desire a white, thin, curvy and toned body. As well, there is a gap regarding characteristics and values associated with the black body.
