Abstract:

The policy of comprehensive care for drug users determines that the care practices should cover the biopsychosocial dimensions. However, evidences reveal an institutionalized practice, in which families prioritize the subject‘s seclusionits context. This study aimed to understand, based on the narratives of adolescents in crack use, as well as the narratives of their families, the implications of psychosocial care and institutionalization in the treatment of their needs. Eleven teenagers and six relatives narrated their experiences through in-depth interviews, which were analyzed in the light of Paul Ricoeur‘s phenomenological hermeneutics. An flow could be observed, in which teenagers in the search for care, initially, are institutionalized and then sent to the substitutive services. It is urgent, therefore, the need to strengthen psychosocial care network, so that care for the adolescent crack users is offered in a full way, guaranteeing respect for the fundamental rights of adolescents, such as liberty and live in a family or in community.
