Abstract:

Objective: This article describes the experience of in-service training for pedagogical coordinators National Program of School Feeding (PNAE) developed by the Collaborator Centre in Food and Nutrition School at the Federal University of Bahia (CECANE-UFBA). Methods: participant observation and document analysis resulted from: film, group discussion summaries, procedural and final evaluations and field diary are used. The formative experiences occurred in 2011, in two municipalities in Bahia and Sergipe states involving 118 educational coordinators from 79 municipalities of both states. Results: The objective of raising awareness and guiding pedagogical coordinators for mainstreaming the theme of food and nutrition has been achieved. The educational proposal was evaluated by the coordinators as "dynamic", "productive" and "interactive", promoting the exchange of experiences among participants. Therefore, despite they consider a relevant theme, the coordinators do not have enough knowledge in food and nutrition that can give support their teaching practices. Conclusion: It supposed that the continuing education described here presents some limitations on its impact in the fieldwork, when the coordinators return to their workplace for lack of a permanent training.
