Abstract:

The objective of this study was to evaluate the aspects related to drug regulation and incorporation of technologies in the Brazil for the diseases of poverty. It is an exploratory, descriptive study, conducted between January and May 2016, where surveys and document reviews were conducted in the electronic sites of the Anvisa, FDA, EMA, Conitec and in the legislation system of the Brazilian Health Ministry. There was a total of 120 listed medicines in Brazilian National List of Essential Medicines (Rename) 2014 for specific care of poverty diseases, which are more than a third (41) have only one national producer and other 23 have no registry in the country. In the period 2006-2014, the number of drugs in the Rename increased by 53% in to such diseases. Despite the advances of SUS in the fields of regulation and incorporation of technologies, given the market disinterest and neglect condition for diseases of poverty, State action is essential to ensure access to the best therapies available in order to reduce health inequities. This infers that Brazil needs to advance in the regulation of medicines without marketing interest, unfinished agenda which can create barriers to access to technology for vulnerable populations.
