The aim of this study is to describe the socioeconomic, epidemiological profile and the pharmacotherapy of 154 elderly from five homes for the aged of the Brasilia through a questionnaire adapted from method Dader and supplemented with information from medical records. The sample is characterized by singles and widowers, mostly of men, mean age of 74.6 years, with preserved cognition, low income and low education level. The group consumes of four- five medicines and is affected by cardiovascular and psychiatric diseases. The drugs more consumed are cardiovascular and psychotropic drugs.
